DDLC uses these tropes intentionally, but focuses more on the “why, who and how” in the brief playtime rather than just having them exist to fulfill the players expected fetish. This is certainly not limited to VN only as this narrative is nothing new, but it’s a staple for most. They only exist to be a sexual conquests for the player and their personality and history can probably be summed in a paragraph. In the majority of VN you’d take the characters at face value as their world suddenly revolves around the protagonist. You can pretty much say any VN involving high school girls is like any other, mainly because the tropes are universal.
